Closed circuit television
A closed circuit television system (CCTV) is used for surveillance, visual confirmation of alarms and intrusion detection (if accompanied by Video Motion Detection capability). In it's simplest form, a CCTV system consists of a camera and a lens connected via a suitable cable (typically coaxial) with a display, all powered properly with proper voltage. For purposes of recording and playback, an analog or digital VIDEO recorder is needed. If the cameras are mobile, a control device that controls the camera turn, height and lens opening (ZOOM). If the system has more cameras, viewing and recording of videos from these cameras, needs other devices to be placed in the system. These devices are additional monitors and recorders, QUADS (viewing 4 cameras on one screen), Multiplexers, Matrix Switchers, etc. Image is transmitted from the cameras on screens with coaxial cable, UTP, Fiber Optic, or wireless. In several cases transmitter and receiver pairs are required for transmitting the image. Additionally there is the possibility of using more than one control center for the reception and usage of images sent by the cameras. Besides the local control centers, there may exist one or more remote control centers, which are connected to the web.
